First, he had an inspiring experience through his palm leaf reading. Then, a deep energetic opening through practicing his remedies.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I have to admit that I was a little skeptical when I first heard of these rishis and their palm leaves. I wasn\u2019t closed to the idea, but I certainly wasn\u2019t considering looking for my own palm leaf prediction. I was familiar with forms of astrology, numerology, horoscope readings, palmistry and so on, but not particularly drawn to it.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But, as time went on and the confusion I felt about my life, direction, purpose, and financial situation became more and more pressing, I became curious.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Could knowing details about the unfolding of my life help me? Well, I was certainly open to finding out. I contacted My Palm Leaf and made an appointment for a reading. I was met by a very sweet Indian woman who did an amazing job of making me feel welcome.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like I said, I wasn\u2019t sure what to expect, was this to be another kind of basic personality reading like numerology or simple horoscope readings?<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet the reading itself was not at all what I had expected! To be honest there was a lot of information. Upon watching the recording of the reading I was surprised by how much I had totally forgotten. One thing that stands out still to this day is the feeling of fascination and joy that I felt when they read both of my parents\u2019 names off of the palm leaf and confirmed that it belonged to me.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The power of experiencing the reading<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end of the matching process, my skepticism had become a mild and rapidly fading sense of disbelief. My mind was somewhat surprised and pleasantly open.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The experience of a Palm Leaf reading was interesting. But the details it contained seemed somewhat far away or distant from the content of my life at that moment.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What really surprised and continues to impress me was the feeling of connection that followed from the reading. Later, I described this to a friend as a clear but subtle sense of being plugged into a kind of source of inspiration and clarity. It\u2019s hard to describe but the feeling was palpable.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The weeks following my Palm Leaf Reading <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the weeks following the reading, I continued to sit with the echoes of my palm leaf reading. I contemplated, allowed room for the remaining shreds of skepticism, and spoke with friends who had also received their nadi leaf predictions or were interested in searching for their palm leaf horoscope.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What came again and again was the willingness to open to a sense of being held and guided by some kind of higher guidance. I\u2019m usually pretty cautious to use this kind of language but I don\u2019t know another way to express it. It really felt like there was some other presence \u2018with\u2019 me for the next couple of days. The insights that made it possible to describe this in words would just appear suddenly while I was walking somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not being particularly devotional by nature I didn\u2019t immediately feel drawn to the practice of the remedies (pujas and mantras). I wasn\u2019t resistant in an obvious way, but it wasn\u2019t at the front of my mind to begin them straight away. Plus, I knew I was about to embark on a 3-6 month adventure in California. It was certainly not in the plan to carry candles, fruits, flowers, and framed pictures of several deities everywhere I went!<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fast forward a couple of months. I\u2019m in northern California. I\u2019m feeling very confused and very misaligned with my life. I\u2019m going through a breakup several months in the making. Simultaneously I\u2019m experiencing an excruciating disconnection from a dear, dear friend, who had in a way been a kind of lifeline on our crazy adventure over the last weeks and months.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One day out of a mild (or not so mild) desperation I was racking my brain, trying to figure out what I had missed. Why were things so out of whack? What might help me get it together again? Then \u2018ping\u2019. Pujas.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\nn<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"The magic of the Indian Palm Leaf Readings || My Palm Leaf\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HMBDMyr2LhI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Seeking the guidance of the Rishis <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be clear, I\u2019m not suggesting that the difficulty was a result of not doing the poojas, nor was I expecting everything to be made better by magic. But, I was hoping that at least by committing myself to a process of practice over the course of several months, hopefully, there would be a sense of direction, something to lean into amongst the spinning.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I started on the following Sunday. My first of many Ganesha pujas. I was living pretty much in the woods at this point. I had no altar, save for a picture of Ganesha that I downloaded on my phone. I had no flowers, fruits, or candles available. I decided to do the entire puja in my mind\u2019s eye.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(To learn about the practice of pooja check out this YouTube video \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZYFipcRX9HM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How to do a Pooja<\/a>\u2019.)<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Evoking the grace of the Rishis <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I sat on a rock, balanced my phone against another rock with Ganesha on the display, and began evoking the rishis. Opening to the quality of blessing and grace that had felt so clear in those moments following the initial reading.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After sitting some moments, opening to what\/who\/where ever it is that these <a href=\"https:\/\/mypalmleaf.com\/the-saptarishi-the-7-great-vedic-sages\/\">rishis<\/a> refer to (I think of the rishis not so much as people, whether they really were at some point or not, but as an energetic presence or frequency).<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I began evoking Ganesha, visualizing his elephant-headed form and joyfully abundant belly. But I never felt it so powerfully in my body as I did during that puja. There was a tangible sense of joy and enthusiasm welling up. I was contemplating Ganesha as I chanted, always curious to see if I could glimpse more clearly what this elephant man-god really represents.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then it became very clear. At least for me at that moment Ganesha was an infectious, logic-defying sense of enthusiasm and optimism. The joyful optimism I began to feel cut through the dark cloud that was hanging around (it came back soon enough but it was a welcome reprieve).<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the puja, I felt high. Certainly, the state I was experiencing was deeply altered. No cosmic oneness or flashy yogic state of awareness. But a definite sense of optimism, enthusiastic clarity and confidence was present. The issues I had been facing seemed, at least for a while, easily meet-able.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s how Ganesha removes obstacles, I thought (I had been wondering for a while what that was about!).<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Practicing the palm leaf remedies requires patience <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would love to tell you that this happened every time that I practiced the <a href=\"https:\/\/mypalmleaf.com\/remedies\/\">prescribed remedies<\/a> since then. I can\u2019t quite say that. But, there has been a deeper enthusiasm and openness to this previous unfamiliar practice.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There have been more insights about the other deities I was prescribed to practice with. I was willing to see if these palm leaf readings were as potent as they claimed to be. I was even willing to open to the idea that a man wrote down the details of my life (including my parents\u2019 names?!?!) several thousand years ago.<\/p>\n<p>nn<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I feel that my willingness paid off in the end.
