Recommended in your Palm Leaf reading? Your remedy may name Komatha or Gomatha Pooja, often for a new moon day. You can make the offering yourself — green leaves for cows and food for birds — or book it here to have the priests perform it for you.

What Is Gomatha Puja?

In the Vedic tradition the cow is revered as Gomatha — the Divine Mother — the purest symbol of maternal love and selfless giving. Scripture holds that all 33 crore (330 million) deities dwell within her form, and that Goddess Maha Lakshmi, bestower of wealth and abundance, resides in her. Honouring Gomatha is therefore said to invoke the combined blessings of the entire cosmos.

In a Gomatha Puja, Vedic priests in Tamil Nadu, South India, worship a mother cow and her calf according to traditional rites. They adorn her, feed her and honour her with mantras and aarti — and the entire ritual is dedicated to you, your family and your intentions.

People book it to mark a milestone, to remove negative energies, or to clear karmic obstacles from their path. It is also a remedy that can appear in a Palm Leaf reading.

Blessings Traditionally Associated with Gomatha Puja

Handed down through the Puranas and living temple tradition, honouring the sacred cow is associated with these blessings.

🪷
Purification of Karma

Feeding and honouring the cow is said to equal performing a great yajna — cleansing past misdeeds and lightening karmic burdens.

🕯️
Peace for the Ancestors

Gau seva is a classic remedy for Pitru Dosha, bringing peace to departed family members — and their blessings to the living.

🌾
Prosperity & Abundance

Goddess Lakshmi is believed to dwell in the cow. Her worship is traditionally performed to draw wealth and dissolve financial blocks.

✨
Wishes Fulfilled

Gomatha is linked to Kamadhenu, the wish-fulfilling divine cow. A sincere puja is offered for heartfelt wishes — including the blessing of children.

🪐
Relief from Planetary Afflictions

The nine planets are said to reside in the cow's spine. Her worship is prescribed for Navagraha afflictions and Kala Sarpa Dosha.

🏡
Protection for Your Family

A household that honours the cow is believed to be shielded from misfortune and the evil eye.

🌍
The Merit of a Pilgrimage

Circling the cow once is said to equal circling the whole earth — the blessing of a pilgrimage in a single ritual.

🕊️
Peace of Mind

The cow's gentle nature and the act of seva calm the mind and soften the ego.

🙏
A Path to Liberation

Devotion to Gomatha is revered as a path toward moksha — freedom from the cycle of rebirth.
