In short: not every palm leaf is found. If yours is not, you receive a full refund. Up to three matching appointments are included; if your leaf has not been found after the third, we treat the search as unsuccessful and refund the full amount you paid for the reading. You do not have to argue for it.

Why a leaf is not always found

This is the part of the process most providers do not talk about, so it is worth being plain about it.

Within the Nadi tradition, not every person has a leaf, and not every leaf that exists has survived. The manuscripts are centuries old. Bundles have been lost, damaged, split between libraries, or simply never written for a particular person. A search can also fail for a more ordinary reason: the bundle your thumbprint points to may not be the one that holds your leaf.

So a search that does not succeed is a normal outcome, not a fault and not a failure on your part.

How the search actually works

Your thumbprint is used to narrow the library’s collection down to a group of bundles. A reader then works through the leaves in those bundles, reading out details — your name, your parents’ names, dates, family circumstances — and you confirm or correct each one.

A leaf is only a match when those details line up. It either matches or it does not, and that emerges through checking, not through persuasion. If a reader is pushing you toward agreeing that something fits, that is not how this is supposed to work.

If the first bundle does not contain your leaf, another appointment is scheduled to search further.

Three appointments are included

The search is not a single attempt. Up to three matching appointments are part of what you booked, because one unsuccessful session is common and does not mean your leaf does not exist.

If your leaf has still not been found after the third appointment, we consider the search unsuccessful.

What happens then

You receive a full refund of what you paid for the reading. Not a credit, not a voucher, not a partial amount. You do not have to request it or make a case for it.

This is written into our terms and conditions, in the section on refunds. It is worth reading it there rather than taking our word for it here.

One limit, stated plainly: the refund covers the reading. Items that were bought separately and have already been produced or shipped — printed transcripts, keepsakes, remedies, physical goods — are not covered, because they cannot be returned to stock.

Why we say this openly

An unsuccessful search costs us the reader’s time, the library’s time, and the moderator’s and translator’s time, and we refund it anyway. We would rather state that clearly than have it discovered afterwards.

It is also the honest position. A service that claimed every leaf is always found would be making a promise about centuries-old manuscripts that nobody is in a position to make.

Common questions

How often does this actually happen?

Most searches succeed, and many succeed at the first appointment. We do not publish a percentage, because the figure would depend on how it was counted and we would rather give you the guarantee than a statistic.

Do I have to pay for the second and third appointments?

No. Up to three matching appointments are part of the reading you already booked.

What if I cannot attend one of the appointments?

Tell your moderator. Appointments are rescheduled routinely and doing so does not use up an attempt.

Can I try again later if my leaf is not found?

You can. Some people choose to, sometimes at a different library. That would be a new booking rather than a continuation of the refunded one.

Does a leaf not being found mean something about me?

Within the tradition, no. It means the manuscript was not located in the bundles searched. Readers do not treat it as a statement about the person, and neither should anyone else.

What if I am not sure whether the details matched?

Say so during the session. Uncertainty is information, and it is better raised at the time than left. The moderator would rather keep searching than record a doubtful match.
